In 1998 Mercedes-Benz tested a "drive by wire" joystick control setup in this V12 powered SL... You could steer, accelerate, honk the horn and activate the turn signals (if you used them) all from the dual joystick controls. Technically a passenger could even drive using the redundant centre control stick.Seems perfectly safe for a 400hp V12 to not have pedals or a steering wheel 😛
